Urban Involvement & Leadership Development
With a mission to inspire hope and offer opportunities so youth facing systemic obstacles can achieve positive futures, BUILD has been a second family for marginalized youth on Chicago's westside for over 50 years. With support from state, county and city GASC agencies, BUILD has helped thousands of young people facing the steepest challenges—from poverty and involvement in the justice system, to chronic exposure to violence and other sources of trauma—become leaders in safer, stronger communities.
"With public funding, BUILD has been able to expand its services to youth and families supporting youth along the developmental continuum. We have been able to expand our hours of service to be open until midnight. It has further allowed us to be open to the community at large, engaging all ages in programming, events, and activities. We have invited other community partner organizations into our space to provide additional programming to the community. This is transformational for communites - a place where whole families can learn, play, be supported and be safe."
